A hall bathroom can be an unpleasant and even unhealthy place. Fortunately, you have everything you need at home (baby oil, wipes, mouthwash, etc.) to clean your bathroom and keep it looking clean thoroughly.

Baking soda: to unclog drains

Most sinks can be drained with baking soda. Here’s how: pour 1 cup of baking soda down the drain, a cup of vinegar preheated (1 minute in the microwave). Leave on for several minutes, then add 1 liter of boiling water. Repeat the operation if necessary. If grease clogs your pipe, use ½ cup of baking soda, ½ cup of salt, and 1 cup of boiling water. Leave on overnight. Rinse with warm tap water the next morning.

Baby wipes: to make the bathroom shine

Are you expecting guests and don’t have time to clean up? Do not panic. Try this simple and effective trick: hold a baby wipe with one hand and dry cloth with the other and use them at the same time, i.e., the wipe to polish surfaces first and then the dry cloth to make them shine.

Baby oil: for cleaning the bathtub or shower

Dirt and soap residue around the tub or shower can be removed using a teaspoon of baby oil and a damp cloth. Use another material to remove excess fat. Finally, spray the surfaces with a disinfectant. You can also use this trick to clean the soap dandruff on glass shower doors.

Ammonia: to fight mold

Ammonia is as effective as bleach in fighting mold. However, these products are used for different purposes, and in no case should ammonia and bleach be mixed. Use ammonia for the following tasks (be sure to work in a well-ventilated area and wear rubber gloves):

• Remove mold from picnic tables and wooden furniture on your patio: mix 1 cup of ammonia, ½ cup of vinegar, ¼ cup of baking soda, and 3.7 l (1 gallon) of water. Rinse thoroughly. Finally, use an old terry cloth to remove the moisture.

• Remove mold from painted exterior surfaces: follow the same procedure as for picnic tables.

• Remove mold from wicker furniture: add two tablespoons of ammonia to 3.7 l (1 gallon) of water. Then wash your furniture with this solution. Use a toothbrush for hard to reach places. Rinse thoroughly and allow to dry.

Mouthwash: to clean the bowl

If you run out of toilet bowl cleaner, you can use mouthwash. Pour ¼ cup of mouthwash containing alcohol into the bowl. Leave on for 30 minutes. Then scrub the bowl with a toilet brush, and flush the toilet. The mouthwash will kill germs and make your bowl sparkling clean.
