Dry skin: 6 moisturizing active ingredients

Avocado. Avocado’s intake of fatty acid and vitamins E, C, and K slows down tissue sagging and deeply hydrates cells. Avocado is also used in cosmetology to reduce dark spots, promote healing, stimulate cell renewal, and rebalance the water supply of the hair fiber.

Make it yourself: a homemade hydrating mask by crushing the flesh of half a ripe avocado and mixing it with the juice of half a lemon and two tablespoons of crème fraîche. Leave the mask on for 15 minutes for supple and brightened skin.


Soybeans. Pigment spots, skin dryness: mature skin already knows the virtues of soy to find supple and less marked skin. But at any age, as soon as the skin shows signs of fatigue and dryness, soy can be naturally called upon to concoct a highly hydrating homemade treatment. To do at home: fill a quarter of a cup of soybeans and soak in water overnight. Then, peel the seeds and crush them with a little fresh milk and a few drops of sweet almond oil until you get a smooth mixture.

Apply the mask to the face and leave it to act for at least 20 minutes before rinsing it either with thermal water or floral water.


The peas. These legumes are rich in lutein and zeaxanthin, strengthening skin cells and maintaining adequate hydration levels. Peas are also rich in vitamin A which lightens the skin and reduces large pores. They are not used directly on the skin or in the bath but are included in the menu twice a week as part of a balanced diet. Peas work wonders on our skin’s quality.

A seasonal recipe: bring 1 l of broth to a boil and cook 200 g of shelled peas and 300 g of green asparagus cut into sections. Drain and mix the vegetables with 5 cl of cream (8% or vegetable) and part of the cooking water (dose according to the desired texture). Serve with a drizzle of olive oil mixed with parsley.


The apricot. It is used in India in many preparations for the skin because of its cleansing, moisturizing, and vitamin properties. Very rich in vitamin A, polyunsaturated acids, and linoleic, apricot kernel oil has extraordinary regenerating, moisturizing, and softening properties.

You can use this homemade mask every night on the skin, leaving it on all night or, as desired, for 20 minutes before rinsing it with rose or orange blossom floral water and applying your night cream. Do it yourself: by mixing apricot kernel oil with white clay, you get a very hydrating mask that will boost your skin.


Oats. The Greeks and Romans already understood the value of taking oatmeal baths to treat skin conditions. Since 1945, oatmeal has been ground in an excellent, so-called colloidal way, using a special technological process, which allows it to retain its natural moisturizing properties.

Many skincare lines use this natural active ingredient. To do it yourself: put 250 g of oatmeal in a sock and boil them in a liter of water for a few minutes. Squeeze the sock to pour the liquid from the flakes into the bathwater, and while you do, this sock is used to rub yourself on.

The Savage Mind

The Savage Mind. To improve skin drainage and promote optimal hydration of cells, wild pansy herbal tea has been proven. To prepare it, rinse 30 g of dried plants (used fresh, the pansy can be slightly toxic) under cold water, found in herbalism.

To do at home: let infuse in 50 cl of boiling water for 15 minutes. Limit yourself to 3 or 4 cups a day for a month, one course to be repeated two or three times a year.
